Some Background...

The University of Hull Commemorative Jewellery

The University of Hull was incorporated by Royal Charter in 1954.

Its origins however, date back to 1927 when the University College of Hull was established.

The University's coat of arms was designed in 1928.

It features the torch of learning, a crown from the arms of Kingston Upon Hull, the white rose of Yorkshire, the fleur-de-lys of Lincolnshire and a dove symbolising peace.

The wavy line dividing the shield alludes to Hull's maritime interests.
